Patio and Pool Lights

Patio string lights have come a long way since the days of plastic red, yellow and green patio lanterns strung haphazardly around the porch railing. For some of us, just mention patio lanterns and we instantly hear Kim Mitchell singing:

Thankfully (and maybe a little sadly), patio lights today encompass a whole range of outdoor lighting products, from tiki torches and patio string lighting and party lights, to candles, umbrella lights, and pedestal patio lanterns. As usual, with so many choices, you can be easily overwhelmed. Don't let your search for perfect patio lights be a chore! There are lots of fun ways to set the mood for entertaining in the garden.

Arrange tiki torches
Arrange around a patio or pool for an exotic tropical atmosphere. Tiki torches or deck torches are dramatic patio lights on tall pointed poles driven into the ground or pails of sand.

They are usually fueled by lamp oil, such as paraffin, and can also burn citronella oil to keep away the bugs. You can buy torches individually and in sets made out of brass and hardwood.

Tiki torches are long burning (8 hours) and should outlast all but the most determined parties.

Party lights, or string lights, come if every conceivable shape and size and their use is limited only by your imagination. Stars, balls, lanterns, sunflowers, chilies, cars...you name it. Always ensure that party lights are rated for outdoor use. Do not use indoor string patio lights outside under any circumstances.Patio and Pool Lights

Another great idea is umbrella lights. These patio lights are designed to attach around the perimeter of your umbrella.

Illuminate with candle lanterns
Set candle lanterns on dining tables and side tables to highlight food and encourage conversation, or along ledges for soft a background glow.

Candle lanterns, votives, and tea lights are an absolute must for garden lighting and entertaining. So easy and inexpensive, they create instant atmosphere.

Dress up your patio set with umbrella lights
Snazzy umbrella lights are designed to attach to your patio or market umbrella, They look great, are weather resistant, and are ignored by most insects. Have a look!
